Gentoo Media CFO Mads Haugegaard Albrechtsen has resigned from the affiliate business, as it says it is moving into a new phase of development.

Albrechtsen joined the business during a period of major upheaval, helping to steer its finances through the 2024 split that separated Gentoo Media from GiG and a subsequent strategic overhaul in 2025.

His exit marks a significant moment for the company as it seeks to build on a slimmed-down operational base, related to a general decline in revenue for the company since the split.

This has come amid a rocky period for the affiliate sector more generally, which has faced declining revenue and profitability amid changes to the Google algorithm, changes in operator strategy and increased attention from regulators.

Gentoo chief executive Jonas Warrer said: β€œWe would like to thank Mads for his dedication and collaboration during a period of significant change for Gentoo Media. Mads has played an important role in the transformation initiated in 2025, including strengthening financial processes, supporting the Company’s strategic realignment and helping build a leaner and more focused organisation.

β€œAs Gentoo Media now enters its next phase, we are maintaining a constructive dialogue regarding the upcoming transition and share a common commitment to ensuring a stable and responsible handover for the benefit of the company, its employees and other stakeholders.”

The two sides said they were working together to ensure a smooth handover, with a search for a permanent replacement already under way.

Albrechtsen added: β€œI am grateful for the time I have spent at Gentoo Media and look forward to contributing to a smooth transition during the coming period.”

Gentoo Media said its strategy, operations and financial outlook remain unchanged.
