Jimmy Kimmel has already survived one suspension at ABC. Now Kalshi traders are putting a price on whether the next controversy actually costs him his job. The market asks whether the Jimmy Kimmel Live! host will be fired before 2027.
As of September 22, Kalshi puts the chance of Kimmel being fired in 2026 at just 3%, with No at 97%. More than $54,000 has been traded on the market.
Only 3% after everything that’s happened? The contract helps explain it. Kimmel’s current ABC deal runs through May 2027, despite last year’s suspension and repeated criticism from President Donald Trump.
Kalshi Traders See a 3% Chance of Kimmel Being Fired
The deadline does a lot of the work here. Kalshi’s question is Will Jimmy Kimmel be fired before 2027? Traders aren’t being asked whether his late-night run is nearing its end. They’re pricing whether ABC actually fires him during 2026.
That May 2027 contract matters. ABC agreed to the extension in December 2025, so Kimmel is already signed for five months beyond Kalshi’s deadline. And after hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live! since 2003, ABC isn’t deciding whether to continue this relationship from scratch.
Still, Yes trades above zero for a reason. ABC already suspended Kimmel once, in September 2025, after his comments about the killing of Charlie Kirk. Trump has since renewed his calls for ABC to fire him. Disney is also fighting an early FCC review involving eight ABC-owned stations, which it calls retaliatory. The FCC and White House disagree with that claim.
That’s the tension behind the 3% price. There’s plenty of noise around Kimmel, but firing him before the end of December is a much narrower outcome.
Could Jimmy Kimmel Leave ABC Instead?
Here’s where the headlines can get misleading. Questions about Kimmel’s future at ABC aren’t automatically questions about whether he’ll be fired this year.
ABC also pushed back when a September report claimed Jimmy Kimmel Live! would end in 2027, calling it inaccurate speculation about the show’s future. Then came another wrinkle. Days later, TheWrap reported that ABC and Kimmel had started talks about continuing beyond May 2027.
None of those reports requires Kimmel to be fired in 2026. He could retire or simply leave when his deal is up, and Kalshi’s Yes contract would still miss.
It’s a familiar trap with culture predictions. The headline might be about Kimmel leaving ABC, but that won’t necessarily answer Kalshi’s much narrower question.
What Could Move the Jimmy Kimmel Prediction Market?
It probably wouldn’t take much to shake up a 3% market. Another suspension or a direct statement from ABC about Kimmel’s job could do it. Evidence already shows Kimmel contracts can move sharply when a new controversy lands.
Look at April. A separate Kalshi market on Jimmy Kimmel Live! being cancelled climbed to 45% during another controversy. That’s a huge gap from today’s 3% firing probability, and it shows how much the exact question and deadline can change the price.
The 3% price is ultimately about timing. Anyone comparing prediction market sites should keep that in mind. Kimmel could announce his retirement, leave ABC in 2027, or hit a wall in contract talks. None of those outcomes necessarily gives Yes traders a winning contract.
