Robinhood’s mobile app was first launched in 2015 as a stock trading hub. But more recently, it was revamped in early 2025 to offer access to the brand’s new
Prediction Markets
Hub, which allows you to buy and sell “Yes” and “No” positions – known here as “event contracts” – on various world events across the following categories:
Economics
Politics
Sports
Culture
The full Robinhood review we recently published on our site explores
Robinhood’s event contracts
and how they work in detail, if you want to learn more. But to get us started, here are the basics:
Using Robinhood’s app, you can buy or sell binary “Yes” and “No” contracts for specific event outcomes – such as “Will Purdue win next week’s college basketball game?”.
Contracts are generally priced between $0.01 to $0.99, based on the market’s take on how likely the outcome is to occur.
Depending on the event, you’ll usually have the choice of either holding your contract until final settlement or closing your position early.
Contracts are settled at $1 if the outcome is correct, or $0 if it’s incorrect – meaning a win if your prediction is right, and a loss if it’s wrong.
Markets and eligibility can vary from state to state.
Eligibility Rules and Other Considerations Before Getting Robinhood’s App
Our Robinhood app review found that you’ll need to meet the following criteria if you want to trade event contracts via the Robinhood app:
You must be 18 or over.
You must have an approved Derivatives account with Robinhood first.
You must be located in an eligible US state – multiple states, including Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, Minnesota, Washington, and Wisconsin, are completely off-limits or face specific contract restrictions (particularly regarding sports) at the time of writing, but the regulatory outlook elsewhere can change very quickly.
In eligible states, the economics, politics, sports and culture event contracts offered via Robinhood are regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
So, there’s no doubt that Robinhood’s platform is legit. Although it’s important to familiarize yourself with the specific state-by-state rules found in the “Market Info” tab before trading.
What Special Features Does Robinhood’s App Offer?
Robinhood’s app offers several useful and intuitive features that are well suited to mobile users. These include:
Easy to Read Prediction Markets
Robinhood’s event contracts can be bought and sold on a binary “Yes” or “No” basis. The markets covered currently include:
Sports – mainly pro and college football and basketball.
Politics and economics – including elections, interest rate decisions and more.
Culture – a newly added feature covering several submarkets.
Individual Contract “Timelines”
During
our Robinhood review, we found that all event contracts in the app feature their own dedicated “Timeline”, which lists:
Trading hours specific to that contract.
Contract expiration or closure dates (the last day and time a contract can actively be traded).
The contract’s resolution date (the day the official real-world outcome is verified for payouts).
Said Timelines are accessible via the “Event Detail” tab for each contract you take out a “Yes” or “No” position on.
Nevertheless, some users have complained that the analytics tools and advanced market data features offered for Robinhood’s prediction markets are limited compared to what some of the brand’s competitors are currently offering on their rival apps.
The upside of this, of course, is that the app’s design is very accommodating toward beginners.
Pros and Cons of Robinhood’s App

How to Get Started with Event Contract Trading on Robinhood’s App
Robinhood’s mobile app is incredibly easy to install. Here’s how to download it onto your device and start event contract trading today:
Visit Robinhood’s official US website via any of our on page banners.
Click their App Store or Google Play link to download the brand’s app.
Hit “Sign Up”, then start entering your personal information – such as your email address, name and DOB.
Follow the on screen steps to set up your initial Robinhood account.
Log in, then click “Prediction Markets” from the “Investing” menu.
Browse the available contracts and tap any “Yes” or “No” option to trigger the onboarding process for Robinhood Derivatives – you’ll need a Derivatives account before you can begin trading event contracts from within the app.
Once your Derivatives account has been approved, you can fund your account and begin buying and selling event prediction related contracts.
We found that the app’s registration process only takes a few minutes to complete. However, at the time of writing, there doesn’t appear to be any welcome bonuses or other special offers advertised for Prediction Market Hub users. Instead, the brand’s bonus offerings tend to focus on stocks and crypto trading.
Our Thoughts on Robinhood’s App’s User Interface
Robinhood’s app is remarkably easy to find your way around. It offers clearly labelled categories for all the different types of event contracts available, and straightforward buying and selling tools that are particularly well suited to beginners.
Buying a contract is a simple case of tapping “Yes” or “No” next to an event prediction, picking out how many contracts you’d like to buy, reviewing the order details and then swiping up to submit.
Meanwhile, closing a position is equally straightforward. Simply locate the contract you’d like to trade via the “My Positions” tab, click “Close Position”, then pick out how many contracts you’d like to close out. The app looks great, too – it features black text on a plain white background, clear fonts, and user friendly, single click buttons.

Conclusion – Robinhood’s App Almost Has It All
Robinhood’s app has a lot to offer. It’s well put together, offers easy to read event contracts and intuitive buying and selling tools. However, it could be improved somewhat with the addition of some more advanced analytics tools, as well as the introduction of a Prediction Markets-specific
Robinhood sign up bonus.
Nevertheless, there’s a lot to like here – and Robinhood offers both iOS and Android versions, too. You can download Robinhood’s intuitive app and sign up for event contract trading today via any of our official banners on this page.
Robinhood App FAQ
Yes. At the time of writing, we found that the brand has apps available for download on both the App Store and Google Play – and that both offer access to Robinhood’s Prediction Markets Hub.
No, there isn’t – Robinhood is not a betting site in the conventional sense, which means you won’t see any Robinhood sports betting odds advertised anywhere, and you won’t encounter a Robinhood sportsbook app, either. Having said that, the brand’s regular trading app does offer access to Robinhood’s Prediction Markets Hub, where you can buy and sell “Yes” and “No” prediction contracts on various popular events, including sports ones.
At the time of writing, the brand’s Prediction Markets Hub is accessible from all US states except for Maryland and a handful of others.
Yes, it is. Robinhood has a fantastic reputation and its Prediction Markets Hub offers event contracts via KalshiEX LLC, which is regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
