If you’re new to this space, it helps to first explain what Coinbase prediction markets are. Coinbase prediction markets let you trade on the outcome of events that will happen in the future.
These events could be any real-world occurrence across several sectors, from sports results and politics to culture, economics, entertainment, commodities, and Fed decisions. To make predictions, you have to purchase Yes or No event contracts based on your view. If you believe an event will happen, you can purchase Yes contract, but if you don’t, you buy the No contract.
Contract prices aren’t fixed by Coinbase. Instead, they are determined by the forces of demand and supply. If traders are buying a type of contract more, the prices will go up, and the reverse happens if traders are selling their positions.
How Do Coinbase Prediction Markets Work?
Event contracts at Coinbase prediction markets are priced between $0.01 and $0.99, and this shows the probabilities of the event happening based on trader’s predictions.
For example, if a Coinbase prediction market asks whether BTC will be $73,000 or above on June 28, 2026 at 5pm EDT, and that outcome is priced at $0.55, it means the market, that’s other traders on the app, is giving it about a 55% chance of occurrence at that given time. If you buy that contract and the outcome is correct, it settles at $1 and you make $0.45 in winnings for each contract. If it’s wrong, it settles at $0 and you lose your $0.55 spent to purchase it.
Note that contract prices can constantly change to reflect the current market sentiment. While writing this Coinbase review, we spotted several Coinbase prediction markets across categories like sports, crypto, entertainment, elections, mentions, politics, commodities, and more.

Make crypto predictions with Coinbase
There are 14 broad categories of Coinbase prediction markets, which is similar to our experience during our
Kalshi app review. We found a variety of short-term and long-term contracts available, and they’re grouped into categories such as sports, crypto, entertainment, elections, politics, commodities, economics, financials, weather, science and technology, and companies. Let’s look at each category and the kind of Coinbase event contracts you can trade.
🗳️ Politics
Almost everything is affected by political decisions, and it’s a comprehensive section with contracts on US and international political events, government decisions, and other key public figures. You can trade on outcomes like whether a US-Iran nuclear deal will happen, if and when traffic at the Strait of Hormuz will go back to normal, or whether a political figure will attend a major public event.
🏅 Sports
Sports prediction markets usually have live and futures event contracts, and it’s not different at Coinbase. Live markets let you trade on the outcome of ongoing games, while futures cater to long-term outcomes such as the Stanley Cup Champion, or Men’s French Open winner. During our Coinbase review, we found markets across basketball, tennis, baseball, soccer, hockey, cricket, and more. You can trade Yes or No contracts on game outcomes, outright winners, and other sports events.
💱 Crypto prediction markets
Coinbase is a top crypto exchange platform, and crypto prediction markets are some of its busiest markets. You can trade contracts on Bitcoin and altcoin prices in minutes or long term. Crypto markets are highly volatile especially since its prices aren’t very stable. So we’ll suggest you trade carefully in these markets.
🎭 Culture prediction markets
Culture prediction markets are mainly about entertainment, awards, including music, TV, film, and popular events. You’ll find predictions on Rotten Tomatoes scores, Billboard Hot 100 rankings, Spotify rankings, and a lot more.
💹 Economy
Will the Fed maintain rates in June 2026, or will there be a 25bps cut? Whatever your predictions are, you can buy event contracts on the outcomes of these and other similar events in the economy section. Coinbase also has markets on gas prices, jobs numbers, GDP, housing, inflation, and global central banks.
🌍 Climate
Climate prediction markets offer event contracts on measurable environmental occurrences, like the daily temperature in specific regions or states, rainfall and snow, and natural disasters. You’ll find prediction markets covering what the highest temperature in NYC, Chicago, or Miami could be on a specific date.
Is Coinbase Easy to Trade On?
Yes, it is. Coinbase prediction markets are well categorized and the site is incredibly easy to trade on with charts and all the important event contract details on display.
At the top of the homepage, you’ll find tabs for Trending, where the hottest contracts are featured, Sports, Crypto, Entertainment, Elections, Mentions, Politics, Commodities, Economics, Financials, Weather, and others. Each contract has clear pricing details, volume of trades, and settlement details.
This way you can see the current Yes and No prices, the chart that shows the history of those prices, and what you’ll potentially receive as winnings before you make your trade. We’ve traded on several markets and across different categories and haven’t experienced any lag while browsing through the markets or checking event contract details.
Download the Coinbase App to Trade on the Go
While the website is good, you aren’t limited to it. If you’d rather trade from anywhere and at any time, you could download the Coinbase app for iOS or Android devices. The Coinbase app gives you access to your account, crypto balance, prediction markets, and event contracts. All the features you’d find on the desktop version, but with improved functionality. You can set up biometric login and turn on notifications to keep track of the market progression.
There’s no standalone Coinbase app for prediction markets. These markets have been integrated into the main app. You can simply download the app and click on Predictions from the top menu to access all the available markets.

Are There Any Coinbase Bonuses for Prediction Markets?
Unlike our
OG app review, where we received a welcome bonus worth up to $100, there are no Coinbase bonuses specific to prediction markets right now. But during this review, we found that users can still access regular crypto bonuses. Do note that these offers can’t be directly used to trade event contracts, but you can convert what you receive into USDC which can be used to trade any event that interests you.
The first is the Coinbase sign-up bonus where you could get up to $2,000 in Bitcoin after making your first crypto purchase of at least $50. There’s also a referral bonus, where you can collect $30 in Bitcoin for referring friends who go on to sign up using your unique link and make crypto purchases of at least $20.
You could also pick up free rewards by watching Coinbase learn videos and completing their quizzes. Lastly, there’s a Spin the Wheel promo that awards a random bonus from $3 to $2,000.
It’s a little disappointing that no
Coinbase prediction markets promo
is available right now, but if this changes, you’ll find the bonus updated in this Coinbase review and our on-page banners.
Deposits and Withdrawals at Coinbase
Coinbase lets you fund your account using both crypto and fiat payment options. This flexibility is one of the upsides in our Coinbase review. You can make deposits at Coinbase using Bitcoin, Ethereum, or USDC, or you can stick with fiat. The choice is totally yours. If you don’t hold crypto, you can use debit cards, bank transfer, Apple Pay, or Google Pay where available.
Do note that Coinbase event contracts are traded in USDC, a stablecoin that is equal to the US dollar. So if you deposit another cryptocurrency, it has to be converted to USDC for your trades. We also had a similar experience during our
Crypto.com review.
Withdrawals are easy too and processed via the same payment methods used for deposits. This means you have a choice of accessing your winnings in fiat or you could send crypto to an external wallet. If you’ve decided to use crypto, always ensure you double-check the wallet address and other details, as crypto transactions are irreversible.
Customer Support – Tested for This Coinbase Review
If you need help, there are several ways to get support on the Coinbase website or in-app, including live chat, phone support, email, and the help center. Coinbase prediction markets are integrated into the main Coinbase app, so the same general support team handles prediction market questions.
You have to be logged in to your account to access help from the live chat, and we found the live chat responses helpful when we asked about prediction markets, deposits, and account verification. Aside from live chat, you can also contact the team via phone for urgent queries or through email, though responses aren’t always as fast as live chat. There’s also a detailed FAQ section with answers to the most common questions, and the search bar makes it easy to find articles by topic.

This is one of the most important parts of any Coinbase review, especially since prediction markets are still fairly new. Based on our findings during this review, yes, Coinbase is legit and safe. Coinbase Global, Inc. is regulated by the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Its prediction markets are offered through Coinbase Financial Markets, which is regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Security and safety of your personal and financial data aren’t taken lightly on the Coinbase website or Coinbase app. The platform uses advanced TSL encryption, multi-factor authentication, and strict identity verification checks must be completed before your first trade.
We must mention that you can still incur losses from incorrect trades, so it’s better to trade responsibly.
So if you’ve been curious and asking if Coinbase prediction markets are legal and allowed in the US, you now know they are. To access them, you must be at least 18 years old and not reside in Nevada due to a temporary ban.
