First Impressions: Does on.PokerStars.ca Ontario Give a Positive Feel?

We think so, yes. The casino is bigger than many competitors, yet it retains a straightforward look that makes it easier to move around. The first section players will land in is My Casino, which is where previously played games will land once a player has an account and has used the site a few times. Before then, it provides a good collection of games, recommendations, and popular titles, along with some highlighted software developers. We like to think of it as a showcase of what is to come. Of course, the complete PokerStars review will handle that aspect, too. Here, though, we will go into detail on some of the aspects of the casino that players can expect to see.

The on.PokerStars.ca Ontario Casino Game Range

It’s reassuring to find easy access to the games at any casino, and once inside the casino area, we were able to note several key gaming areas:

  • Slots
  • Live casino
  • Instant win
  • Table games

While the latter two can be a little sparse on games at some casinos, the on.PokerStars.ca Canada site does fare better than some. We started by scrolling down that page to see some picks from the team, followed by a look at some live games. They also offer a Game of the Week.

Once inside a particular area, players can often see several subcategories. The best example here is for the slots, where popular, new, exclusive, and Megaways areas are noted in the list. While one new title did carry a NEW label, it didn’t appear to be true of all the games in the new area. Thus, we always visit that section to explore, just to be sure if anything is there that we may not have seen before.

In every case, though, we spotted a small info button on the title panel for each game. Clicking or tapping that info logo will reveal any special features seen in that game. The site has used a series of logos for these, so they become easier to identify while exploring the collection. This panel also reveals the number of paylines involved with the game. While we didn’t note any minimum or maximum wager options in that info panel (the one thing that is missing, really), it did help to highlight a few factors for finding a game to play.

Software Developer Variety

One key question we had at the beginning of our Rivalry review was this – could we locate a list of developers who were adding their back catalogues of games to the site? Indeed, we could. When on the landing page for the casino, players can head to the bottom of the site and spot some panels there. One covers Game Providers, and while there isn’t a simple list there, we noted 11 providers on that page.

One promising aspect of the site is revealed in this list – a few famous slot titles provided by each developer. IGT gives us the famous Cleopatra slot, while Thunderkick contributes the Esqueleto Explosivo series. The Book of Dead and Legacy of Dead games come from Play’n Go, too. While this gives a sense of familiarity, being able to find some big hits of recent times, the collection of games is balanced by including lots of other titles players probably haven’t heard of. This is made easier by having games coming in from multiple providers, and by adding new titles as often as possible, too.

Exploring the Live Casino Area

One key provider at the casino is Evolution Gaming. Players with experience of live casino games will know they are one of the leading developers of live casino games managed by real dealers. We found all their games in the live casino area, with a screenshot of each table acting as the logo for that game.

One impressive aspect of the live games is that they all give the minimum and maximum bet options for each table. Some begin at a dollar or more, while other tables are playable from a few cents a time. This makes it much easier to choose a table with a range that suits our budget. It’s also possible to see how many players are on each table at any time.

It’s not just about the familiar blackjack, baccarat, and roulette either. While those might well be the limits of some live casinos, this operator provides some alternatives to explore. Game show formats include Funky Time and Crazy Time, while the Monopoly Live Baller takes this familiar game to a different level, too.

Assessing the Betting Range for Individual Games

Continuing our on.PokerStars.ca review, we wanted to provide further details about the betting possibilities available to players. Live games only accept real wagers, but many other titles on the site do come with practice options. Players must be logged in to see the possibilities in this case. The same applies in terms of reviewing the betting range in any available games.

With such a good array of slots and other casino games to explore, there are plenty of penny slots and other options available throughout the collection. Thus, most players will be able to find a few titles that neatly fit within the budgetary constraints they might be working with. This is one aspect of the casino that is easy to miss, but which points to the site’s ability to cater to a wide range of players. Penny slot fans certainly won’t feel left out, and neither will those who veer towards high roller territory.

Is It a Good Casino to Use and Move Around?

This is an aspect forgotten by some casino reviewers, yet it is one aspect we believe is among the most important of them all. No matter how many games or developers are available, there are always sites that display and share them more conveniently than others. This operator caters for the Ontario audience by providing a creative and eye-catching website, offering all the info a player could want without overcomplicating things.

It sounds easy when written down, but balancing the needs of the site with the needs of the players is tricky. Fortunately, we were able to find everything we wanted to know to help us compile this casino review, all without needing the customer service area. That’s good too, of course – easily available and packed with info, much like the rest of the site. We felt as though we’d visited before, even on our first visit – that’s how intuitive the layout and information sharing aspects are there. We feel many other players are likely to notice a similar feel.

Licensing Information for on.PokerStars.ca Ontario

Since this is one of the most important features of any online casino, we looked at the validity and availability of license information for the site before we did anything else. The iGaming Ontario logo is present on the site, and the license information (provided as required by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario) is given there too. Some competing sites make this license number clickable, but that hasn’t been done here. It’s a minor niggle, and honestly, we tend to recommend that players copy and paste the license number to check this externally at the relevant license provider. It removes any chance of a site sending players to a fake page (not that this would apply in this case, as we are reviewing an honest and dedicated operator).

This information is also detailed in the terms and conditions for their website. They are also clear that it’s not enough to be a resident of Ontario to use the site – players must also be physically within the province to play at the casino. This detailed info and clarity shows how the site takes its responsibilities seriously in this area.

Mobile App Details for Android and iOS Devices

We’ve often found it can be tricky to work out whether a site welcomes players on tablets and smartphones. Not so with this operator, as they have a Play on Mobile entry in the relevant casino menu near the bottom of the site. There is a download link on that page, but our research also led us to the PokerStars Casino app in the Google Play Store and the App Store. Their logo, plus confirmation of the Ontario province availability, is clearly displayed in both cases.

Apple fans will be pleased to know the app is available for both iPad and iPhone, which we know isn’t always the case with competing apps for similar sites. We also noted that updates come through regularly for both apps, thus providing the best level of security available at any time. We will review the customer service aspects of the site shortly, but we can say we found lots of useful details regarding the apps in the help area when we were initially investigating app availability, so we did not need to spend ages hunting for information about that. The apps were also easy to find via the Google Play and App Store sites.

Can Players Choose from Multiple Payment Options at on.PokerStars.ca Canada?

Here’s another area that can sometimes be challenging to find answers for, depending on how forthcoming a site provider decides to be. Thankfully, the logical approach taken by the site thus far is on show again here in this section of our review. The information heading near the bottom of their website indicates a Deposits and Withdrawals area.

Once we selected that, we were greeted with a chart indicating all the methods on the site, with a simple tick-based solution to show which methods were fine for deposits and/or withdrawals. Better still, all the available options were selected for Canadian players. Multiple cards – including the prepaid paysafecard option – were there, and we also noted Apple Pay (although Google Pay hasn’t been added). Canadian friendly methods such as INTERAC are there too. We also found similar payment options during our PowerPlay review.

Most methods work for deposits and withdrawals, so players should find they have many more possibilities to consider that don’t require them to pick something different for depositing compared to claiming any funds they wish to withdraw. The few that are only available for one or the other are clearly displayed, so we had no issues working out the best method to use.

Seeking Help from on.PokerStars.ca Ontario

What happens if players require help from customer services at this Ontario casino? Some similar sites prove a challenge in this area – not so in this case, thankfully. Similar to the findings from our PointsBet Review, we’ve noted that many pages throughout the site are helpful anyway, purely in the way they’ve been formatted and arranged. So, to find a help area further down every page – tucked away in that lower menu – is better still. Incidentally, after spending some time on the site, we also spotted a much smaller help link in the top right corner of the site.

Either way, once we reached the help area, we noted it was available for everyone to read. With an account, we could login and get personalised help. Still, it’s wise to review the help section prior to creating an account, as it explains much more about many aspects of the site and how a player can use it.

As usual, there is a search box where players can enter search terms or questions to access information. Most viewed articles then appear just below that, while there are 11 sections of help further down the page, breaking everything into manageable and logical areas. We found the account section pertinent to read before we signed up, as it explained many aspects of the site, including the geolocation info relating to accessing the site from Ontario. Finally, there is an option to contact them at the bottom of the help area. Logging in is the best way to access this service, although it is available to non-members too. This opens a chat window whereby a player can converse with the site (albeit with a digital assistant for starters).

Finally, we also noted five social media icons, linking to the likes of Facebook and YouTube, so any player with an account on one or more of those can keep up with the latest announcements from the site, too.

This on.PokerStars.ca Review Can Issue a Good Rating

We have explored all areas of the site and considered the features players are most likely to want more information on. We found the site pleasant to visit and move around, with all pertinent information easy to find – more so than is often true of competing websites. We like to see a variety of providers and game types, and this casino ticks both those boxes. Of course, we all have certain specifics that we like to look for, so a visit to the site will provide each player with enough details to decide whether to sign up. Such a trip can be made via the banners on this page for ease.
