Entain’s Central and Eastern Europe joint venture with Emma Capital has appointed Mikolaj Cymerman to serve as its new chief commercial officer.

Cymerman will also be appointed to work as an adviser to the board for STS, the leading Polish bookmaker acquired by Entain CEE in June 2023.

The executive is a five-year Entain veteran. With prior experience in sales, he joined the Ladbrokes-Coral operator as a commercial manager in November 2019.

Cymerman was appointed head of corporate development at the CEE joint venture in October 2022, where he served until his latest promotion.

“It’s been a busy and exciting start to the year, so I will keep it short,” said Cymerman on LinkedIn.

“I’m pumped to announce double news- I will be joining STS S.A. as an advisor to the board, and also I will be continuing my work at Entain CEE in a new capacity as chief commercial officer.

“Can’t wait to keep the momentum going with STS and SuperSport teams!”

Investor slams STS – Entain CEE deal

Cymerman’s new C-level role comes at a time of flux for the business.

The STS deal previously faced criticism from prominent activist investor Eminence Capital, which released an open letter slamming Entain’s “empire building, shareholder value destroying strategy”.

Amid other issues, questions over Entain’s M&A strategy eventually led to the toppling of former CEO Jette Nygaard-Andersen, who exited last month.

Under the temporary leadership of interim CEO Stella David, Entain is likely to hold-off on M&A for the moment, a strategy which it confirmed in a Capital Markets Day prior to Nygaard-Andersen’s exit.
