BetMGM has replaced FanDuel as the official odds provider of The Associated Press (AP).

The deal will see the Entain and MGM Resorts joint venture provide official sports odds across the AP global sports report.

Under the agreement, BetMGM odds will appear in AP’s daily sports odds fixtures, game previews and other sports stories where odds are mentioned.

AP emphasised it will retain editorial control over all of its content.

BetMGM chief revenue officer Matt Prevost said: “It is a special opportunity for BetMGM to align with The Associated Press, a leading global news source that billions around the world rely on for the most up-to-date coverage.

“Being a trusted resource within that forum is an important connection to expand our reach, and we look forward to providing content that enhances the organisation’s coverage.”

Previously AP had had a similar odds agreement with Flutter-owned FanDuel, initially announced in May 2021.

That deal also involved FanDuel integrating its widgets into AP’s sports pages and distributing its sports content across AP wire.

AP director of global text and commercial products Barry Bedlan added: “People want trustworthy sports betting information, and we are pleased to work with BetMGM to provide a dependable and credible reference point for our customers and audiences.”

BetMGM inks live odds deal with X

The deal is just the latest in BetMGM’s agreements with media organisations in recent months.

In February, the operator announced a strategic partnership with X, formerly Twitter, which saw it become the social media site’s live odds sports betting partner.

BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt said at the time: “X is the centre of the sports world’s conversation 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“Being directly accessible within that forum is an unprecedented opportunity to expand our reach to a passionate and engaged audience.

“We look forward to adding intel and content that enhances the platform’s interaction around sports.”
