Plus with thorough overviews of everything from the brand’s customer support to its payment methods, you’ll have all you need to know about 888 in Canada.
888 was already one of the biggest online bookmakers on the planet before it set its sights on Ontario. Now that sports betting is legal in the province, 888 has got that all-important ACGO licensing and is ready to serve up its famously competitive odds for everything from the NHL to the NBA and beyond.
This means that you can sign up to 888 from Toronto, Ottawa, Hamilton, Kingston, Oshawa or even over in Guelph and bet on your favorite sports. So let’s have a closer look at what this online sportsbook is all about.
So Many Sports Found in This 888 Review

One of the first things to understand is that 888 will let you bet on pretty much any sport that you can think of and then some. The main sports featured here are unsurprisingly those heavy-hitters like hockey, basketball and soccer, and you will also find in-depth coverage of other major sports like football, baseball, tennis, boxing, MMA, golf and so on.
However, what’s truly impressive is 888’s dedication to covering those sports that probably only a handful of people in Ontario would actually want to bet on. After all, we aren’t totally sure how many people in Toronto would want to bet on something like hurling, but it’s nice to have the option.
Some of the more unique betting options include having the ability to bet on everything from esports through to politics. All of which should show that 888 has a bet for pretty much every taste.
Why 888 Ontario Excels with Its Betting Lines
Similar to what we found when
reviewing bet365, one of the most impressive things about 888 is just how many betting lines it will give you for elite-level sporting events. We checked out the brand’s bets for an NHL game between the Panthers and Hurricanes and discovered much more than just odds on the moneyline, spread and totals.
Instead you could also enjoy betting on things like player goals, player shots, player points, player assists and so on. Plus you won’t find too many sportsbooks who’ll go the extra mile to give you hockey bets for things like blocked shots, goaltender saves, shutouts and even whether the total number of goals would be odds or even.
What’s truly impressive is how this wealth of betting lines carries across to most other sports like football, basketball, soccer and so on. Perfect for adding an extra dimension to pretty much any sporting event.
Ranking the Odds at 888 Canada
Any online sportsbook is only as good as the odds that it offers and you will have nothing to worry about at 888. After all, this brand made its reputation on the quality of its odds and this is something immediately evident once you carry out a few odds comparison tests.
We checked out the brand’s odds for a massive NBA game between the Thunder and the Timberwolves in the Conference Finals, and it was no surprise to find that the Thunder were clear favorites at all of the sportsbooks that we checked. However, what impressed us was the fact that 888 managed to edge ahead with its odds for the majority of betting lines.
As a result, whether you were betting on Oklahoma City Thunder to win the game outright or even for a player like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to score over 33.5 points, you could be sure that 888 would give you some of the best odds on the market.
Quality Live Betting Found in This 888 Review
If you are a fan of live betting, you will love what 888 has to offer. After all, it serves up a vast range of live bets for all of the sports you’d expect like hockey, soccer, baseball and even some more niche sports like volleyball.
You will also get an impressive range of live betting lines to ensure that you don’t have to settle on making a live money line bet every time. For example, in a French Open tennis match, you could bet on markets relating to the match, set, game and even who would win a particular point.
We didn’t encounter any live streaming here, but were impressed with the stylish live graphic visualizer that helped to keep you up to speed with every movement in the game. As well as that, you will be treated with a wealth of live statistics so that you can analyze things like break point conversion, aces, double faults and so on. Again, this is just an example for tennis, but it should also apply to all other live sports at 888.

Verifying Your 888 Sportsbook Account
Like we found when conducting our
Bwin review, 888 will make sure that you verify your identity and your address before you are allowed to do things like make deposits and bet on sports. This can be done by visiting the Cashier section, clicking on the Verification link and then submitting the relevant documents like your driver’s license or passport, as well as something like a recent utility bill or bank statement.
It’s also important to understand that 888 will carry out periodic checks to ensure that you are actually located in Ontario. This will be done via your WiFi and the brand’s app also has built-in geolocation software.
Evaluating the 888 App and Website
Upon loading up the 888 site for the first time, you will be impressed with the sheer amount of information that is crammed in the small space. Most of the action takes place in the sidebar where you can browse the various sports and then the main section will display all of the upcoming events chronologically. If anything, the use of gray on a black background doesn’t exactly make for easy reading, and this is one of the few areas in which 888 could improve things.
To be honest, the 888 sportsbook app is much more user-friendly than the website and you can download it for free to your iOS or Android device. Great for getting an even more convenient way to bet on your favorite sports.

The Legality of Betting at 888 in Canada
Perhaps the most important part of this 888 review is also the shortest. This is to basically say that VHL Ontario Limited (the brand behind the 888 sportsbook) is fully licensed and regulated by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. As a result, the brand is legally allowed to offer a real money sports betting service in the province and you can see the iGaming Ontario certificate in the website header as proof of this.

It’s important to understand that 888 isn’t some small-time sportsbook aiming to make its start in the Ontario betting market. Making Withdrawals from 888 in Canada
